Brown Sugar Meatloaf

When you announce that you are making meatloaf, does your family sigh, shrug their shoulders and pout their way out of the room?  My family (especially my kids) gets really excited when I tell them I'm making meatloaf.  Plus they get to dip it in ketchup, and what kid wouldn't like that?  The caramelized brown sugar and ketchup glaze is the star of this meatloaf.  It's delish!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf
Kitchen Mom's Recipe altered from Allrecipes.com

*3/4 Cup Packed Brown Sugar ($0.32)
*3/4 Cup Ketchup ($0.65)
*1 1/2 LBS Ground Beef ($3.75)
*3/4 Cup Milk ($0.11)
*2 Eggs ($0.12)
*1 1/2 Tsp. Salt ($0.01)
*1/4 Tsp Black Pepper ($0.01)
*1/4 Tsp Ground Ginger ($0.08)
*1 Onion, Chopped ($0.40)
*1 Red or Green Bell Pepper ($0.50)
*1 Cup Bread Crumbs ($0.80)
*2 1/2 TBSP Worcestershire Sauce ($0.27)

Total Cost To Make $7.02 makes 1 loaf.

As you arrange your ingredients and chop the onion and pepper, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Press half of the brown sugar into the bottom of a lightly greased loaf pan.
Top with half of the ketchup.
In a large bowl add the ground beef, milk, eggs, salt, black pepper, onion, bell pepper, ginger, bread crumbs and Worcestershire sauce.
Now play with your food!  Get your hands in there and mix it up good.
Add the mixture to a loaf pan and shape into a loaf.
Blend remaining ketchup and brown sugar over the top of the loaf.
Bake in the 350 degree oven for 1 hour or until meat is no longer pink in the middle.
Slice and serve!  My family likes a little extra ketchup for dipping, but it's so good without it too!
 Yummy!
P.s. the heels are the best!  Extra glaze per square inch of beef!
